Summer at the Waldorf School is a day camp for boys and girls ages 3-13. Offering both half and full day programs, flexible scheduling, a variety of quality activities and special events led by dedicated and talented counselors — our program creates an atmosphere of lively, yet relaxed, summer fun!
The full-day program includes a wide variety of activities designed to engage the interest and enthusiasm of children from preschool to “tween.” In addition to activities led by their lead counselors, campers participate in tennis, arts & crafts, painting, yoga, music, sports & games, cooking, gardening, drama, swimming, and outdoor water play. Weekly special events include; Tie-Dye Week, July 4th Carnival and “Summertime Stars” talent show. Campers bring lunch from home each day, and the camp provides a mid-morning snack.
The goal of the CIT program is to help adolescents gain basic leadership experience and to support advanced community-living skills. While it is not necessary for a CIT candidate to plan to be a future counselor, much of the practical experience and skills will be aimed toward that possibility. The leadership skills learned in the CIT Program can be transferred to many other groups and jobs in the future.
The CIT program is designed to promote a successful adolescent transition, from childhood to young adult. The CIT program will, among other things, help participants decide if they want to work with younger children at camp or in other settings.
Applicants must complete a CIT application, register for camp, supply contact information for three references and pass a personal interview.

We offer a rich play experience for the youngest campers. Their program includes indoor and outdoor play, watercolor painting, seasonal crafts, singing, cooking, yoga, story telling, rhymes and verses and puppetry. The half-day program does not include lunch.
We are pleased to inform parents that swimming has returned to Summer at the Waldorf School! Campers age 4 and older will once again have regular swimming at the newly renovated Adelphi University pool facilities. The swimming program includes structured "Learn to Swim" program focused on fun and water safety.
An important feature of our program is the flexible scheduling option. While we encourage all our campers to take advantage of the full 6 week program, we recognize that family vacations and other activities may conflict with camp. Parents can create a part-time schedule which suits their family needs on a pro-rated basis. Please note that a minimum of 19 days enrollment is required for all campers.
TRANSPORTATION
Parents are responsible for transportation to and from the camp. The drop-off/pick-up point is clearly defined in the school's parking circle. Drop-off/pick-up for the nursery and kindergarten is inside, at the classroom.
LUNCH
Children bring their own lunches. Juice and a small snack are provided at mid-morning.
AFTER CARE
The Aftercare Program is available daily until 6:00 p.m. The Aftercare Program provides campers with wholesome childcare that includes snack and free play. Students can be enrolled in the program on a regular schedule or an “as needed” basis. Campers join our aftercare program at 3:15. There is a charge of $8/hour for the aftercare service. Invoices for Afternoon Program fees are sent home every 2 weeks.
Our oldest campers enjoy the variety of weekly field trips to local points of interest, such as canoeing on the Nissequogue River, cheering at a Brooklyn Cyclones baseball game, or making waves at Splish Splash water amusement park. Transportation for these trips is by chartered, air-conditioned bus, and parents are notified in advance of fees and required permissions slips for each excursion.
